Mary Kelsey
14 Elworthy Drive, Wellington TA21 9AT

Mary Kelsey passed away on Friday 12 January. Mary had been poorly for some time and had treatment for cancer at the Beacon Centre in Taunton. It is a sad time but we know that she had excellent treatment and was well looked after.

Mary, together with Ken Hague, started the Mah Jong groups in the area, enthusiastically training lots of beginners over many years. From small beginnings in their own homes the groups have expanded to Ruishton, Taunton Library, Bishops Hull, West Buckland and Ilminster and, some years ago, set up the training for the new group in Plymouth. They both initiated the Breakaway Mah Jong holidays in Exmouth which provided much fun and friendship.

Those who knew Mary have their own memories of her sense of humour, vast experience and tales of travelling over the world including New Zealand where she lived for a time, and huge enthusiasm for expanding the playing of Mah Jong. Mary had 3 West Highland Terriers who were her constant companions. They are now looked after by Wendy Bagness and her family. In November Mary moved into the Horton Cross Nursing Home where she was very well looked after and they allowed Wendy to bring the dogs in to visit.

Mary's nephew Tim and Wendy are finalising funeral arrangements so I will let you know when we have details
